The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered just got an extended new showcase at Gamescom 2026, giving us our best look yet at the Nintendo Switch 2 version, its upgraded visuals, new motion controls, improved Roach mechanics, built-in community mods, and even a small glimpse of combat running directly on Nintendo’s new hardware. CD Projekt Red spent hours breaking down how The Witcher 3 has been rebuilt and improved for Switch 2, including customizable gyro aiming, motion gestures that let you summon Roach simply by raising your controller, new mounting and dismounting animations, improved horse controls, crossbow gestures, potion shortcuts, and other Switch 2-exclusive features designed to make Geralt’s adventure feel more immersive. We also get another look at community-created mods being integrated directly into the remastered experience, including Geralt hoods, glowing Witcher eyes, boat races, and an easier way to access fan-made content that could dramatically increase the game’s replayability. Visually, the Switch 2 version appears to be a massive step up from the original Switch release, with more vibrant environments, cleaner image quality, improved lighting, and a presentation that looks surprisingly impressive for a portable version of The Witcher 3. The showcase eventually gives us a brief combat sequence with Geralt taking on a bear alongside footage highlighting the upgraded technology powering the remaster, although most of the actual combat shown during the massive stream was unfortunately limited to a short looping clip. With CD Projekt Red attempting to modernize the experience without drastically changing what made the original game special, The Witcher 3 Remastered is shaping up to be one of the most impressive upgrades yet for Geralt’s legendary adventure.
