The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered just dropped roughly 15 MINUTES of new gameplay to close out Gamescom 2026, giving us an extended look at the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion, brand-new story details, new monsters, improved combat, Geralt’s new chain weapon, and even a previously unseen boss battle. This latest showcase takes us back to Lettenhove, the massive new open-world region said to be comparable in scope to Blood and Wine, while revealing that Geralt has traveled there to help Dandelion deal with mysterious family matters surrounding his childhood home and noble family. We also get a much longer look at the creepy Garden of Thorns alongside Dandelion’s cousin Lila, including new cutscenes, exploration, the legend behind the bloodthirsty forest, and an extended battle against the Thorn Bloom that finally gives us more uninterrupted gameplay than the original Gamescom presentation. CD Projekt Red also highlights several improvements coming with The Witcher 3 Remastered, including advanced ray tracing, improved lighting, updated camera and targeting behavior, smoother combat, more detailed NPC routines, and a world designed to feel more alive than ever. Geralt’s new chain weapon gets another showcase as well, including a new quick-fire attack that lets him launch the chain without manually aiming it like the crossbow. The second portion of the footage gives us additional environments and combat from the remaster itself, including a completely new monster encounter and a longer look at the game running in action after the massive Switch 2 showcase barely showed combat against actual enemies. With The Witcher 3 Remastered replacing the current Complete Edition on September 29, 2026 and Songs of the Past adding an entirely new adventure to one of the most iconic RPGs ever made, this was easily one of the strongest ways CD Projekt Red could have ended Gamescom.
