NX Gamer | The Witcher 3: Next Gen Update Hotfix2x PC, PS5, Series X|S, Last Gen Technical Review @NXGamer | Uploaded January 2023 | Updated October 2024, 6 minutes ago.
With my final video for 2022, I took a closing look at the latest patches for the Witcher 3. After the initial update for the Witcher 3 Next Gen having some issues on PC & Console. Some hotfixes were released for the Red Engine 3 monster hit, with Hotfix2x tested. Here I cover AMD cards compared to Nvidia, what is the main cause for poor performance on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. Compare the old PC version in 1.32 with the removal of HBAO+ and more that is not all positive. Comparisons to console, last gen and more in this in-depth Technical review.
Chapters
0:00 What the video covers and preface

1:54 Main cause of poor utilisation/performance even with Hotfix 4.02, DX11 vs DX12 performance
5:00 Optimised settings on PC and comparisons
10:42 Comparison of V1.32 vs V4.0, HBAO+, SSAO, LoD & more
17:18 Issues & Bugs, Series X LoD bug, Foliage & more
19:55 Console roundup & Final Verdict
Optimised Settings
The settings covered in the video relate to when you are CPU bound, if you see no benefit from these updates then you are likely fully GPU bound. Lower GPU resolution to gain back performance and then retest. Using these on any GPU only requires you to adjust Resolution/FSR/DLSS as needed and leave all other options as is in the menu. Once happy cap your FPS to 30/60 if you can or 40fps if you have a 120Hz screen and a 5600X equal or greater CPU. Using my RTX2070 when not fully GPU bound at 1620p DLSS Perf I gained 15% performance improvement with the same run in this video and 50% on the lows.
