A long term Elm customer recently asked that we work on a better air wash to keep the window clean. Elm literature from the 80's claimed a clean window, but we realized that there could be improvement. So we set to work analyzing how best to give the fire plenty of responsiveness to added air, and at the same time provide an updraft across the glass to have the flames keep it clean. A couple of prototypes later we had the solution. It is a removable piece which allows you to load logs up to 8" in diameter with it in place and 10" when it is removed. This video dramatically demonstrates how the flames lick the glass from bottom to top, with the secondary fingers of flames from the box beam and "U" tubes raining down behind them for the Wildest fire yet! And as if this weren't enough, we added compressed air to the feed pipe, and created a fireball that an Elm stove had never seen! www.vermontironstove.com, Vermont Iron Stove Works LLC
