Well we knew the perfect weather could not last but in the end it was by no means a total washout! We unfortunately got embroiled in a cycle race - getting involved with cyclists always ruins ones day but this was worse....hundreds of slow moving, wobbling amateurs! I left my jacket in the hotel in Westport so at great expense, bought a new way of protecting myself against the impending storm at a shop in Clifden - we then visited the Alcock and Brown memorial - the first to fly across the Atlantic in 1919. The day ended having turned up at a hotel in Galway which was utterly disgusting resulting in us having to find somewhere else on a Saturday night - at great expense!
