London-born singer and actress Nicole Dennis performed her first solo concert at Crazy Coqs and Brasserie Zédel last Sunday, 20th January 2019. Nicole has just completed a run as understudy to Effie White in the hit West End show Dreamgirls, and is about to start in the first London run of Broadway musical Waitress. Inbetween shows, Dennis has also appeared on The Voice UK, joining Jennifer Hudson’s team and performing an impromptu duet with the Oscar-winning star of the track “And I Am Telling You” from Dreamgirls.
Dennis took the audience through her favourite songs, both musical theatre and mainstream pop/jazz and shared stories about shows, inspirations, mental health, spirituality and love. The concert featured piano accompaniment from Chris Guard and a host of special guests including Dreamgirls’ co-stars Asmeret Ghebremichael (Wicked, Legally Blonde, The Book of Mormon), Tosh Wanogho-Maud (Showboat, The Book of Mormon), Ashlee Irish and Ashford Campbell (9 to 5); Danielle Hope (Rock of Ages), Kelly Agbowu (The Lion King & The Book of Mormon); and Luke Bayer (Everybody's Talking About Jamie).
