Episode 392:
ℹ️ This stage of the Via di Francesco reminded us just how unpredictable pilgrimage can be—and how much goodness you find along the way.
We split into two groups leaving Agriturismo Il Bagolaro—some taking a taxi ahead to Montelibretti, while the rest of us committed to walking the full stage.
Our morning stop at Bar Marco turned into something special. Instead of just grabbing a quick coffee, we experienced a local tradition where pilgrims are gifted drinks through prepaid tickets left behind by others. A small gesture—but one that says everything about this journey.
From there, we continued on foot toward Monterotondo, soaking in the quiet roads and rolling countryside… until things took a turn. Midway through the walk, Michelle started feeling seriously off. Heat exhaustion? Food poisoning? We still don’t know—but with no taxis available and the heat building, things got real fast. Then, out of nowhere, a local stepped in and helped get her safely off the route—one of those moments you don’t forget.
The rest of the group pushed on, eventually making it to Monterotondo, where we regrouped and ended the day the only way that made sense—together, over pizza.
This is pilgrimage: generosity from strangers, hard moments you don’t plan for, and a group that refuses to leave anyone behind.
