Dead Island is a 2011 survival horror action role-playing video game developed by Techland and published by Deep Silver for Microsoft Windows, Linux, OS X, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Centered on the challenge of surviving a zombie-infested open world with a major emphasis on melee, the plot focuses on four playable survivors trying to survive and escape off the fictional island of Banoi.
The game was announced at the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo, but was delayed until 2011. The game's cinematic announcement trailer was met with controversy over its depiction of a dead child, but reception was nonetheless positive, with praise going towards the emotional impact, animation, and story, with the trailer being held as one of the best in any medium. The game was released in September 2011 for North America and Europe, with an October 2011 release in Japan. Despite the pre-release acclaim, the game received generally lukewarm reviews. While praised for its atmosphere, gameplay, and playable characters, it was also criticized for the large technical difficulties and in-game glitches, graphics, and most notably being hampered for lacking the emotional themes presented in the trailer.
A stand-alone expansion, Dead Island: Riptide, was released in 2013. A spin-off, Escape Dead Island, was released on 18 November 2014. A sequel, Dead Island 2, was set to be released in 2016, but has been delayed indefinitely. A remastered version of the game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on 31 May 2016 under the title Dead Island: Definitive Collection; it bundles the game with Riptide, all DLC, and a 16-bit side-scrolling game called Dead Island: Retro Revenge.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker[b] is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the GameCube home video game console. The tenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series, it was released in Japan in December 2002, in North America in March 2003, and in Europe in May 2003.
The game is set on a group of islands in a vast sea, a departure for the series. The player controls series protagonist Link as he attempts to save his sister from the sorcerer Ganon and becomes embroiled in a struggle for the Triforce, a sacred wish-granting relic. Aided by allies including pirate captain Tetra – an incarnation of Princess Zelda – and a talking boat named the King of Red Lions, Link sails the ocean, explores islands, and traverses dungeons to acquire the power necessary to defeat Ganon. Wind, which facilitates sailing, plays a prominent role and can be controlled with a magic conductors baton called the Wind Waker.
The Wind Waker was directed by Eiji Aonuma and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. It retains the basic 3D gameplay of its predecessors, Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask, but with a distinctive cartoon-like art style created through cel shading. The game received widespread critical acclaim, but the art style proved divisive among players, which contributed to comparatively weak sales. As a result, Nintendo changed directions with the next Zelda installment, the more realistically-styled Twilight Princess. However, The Wind Wakers reputation improved over time, and it is now widely considered one of the greatest video games ever made. The Wind Waker originated the Toon Link variant of the main character, and received two direct sequels for the Nintendo DS, Phantom Hourglass (2007) and Spirit Tracks (2009). A high-definition remaster, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, was released for the Wii U in 2013, to critical acclaim.

Devil May Cry 3: Dantes Awakening, known in Japan as simply Devil May Cry 3, is a hack and slash video game developed and published by Capcom, released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and ported to Microsoft Windows in 2006. The game is a prequel to the original Devil May Cry, featuring a younger Dante Set a decade before the events of the first Devil May Cry in an enchanted tower, Temen-ni-gru, the story centers on the dysfunctional relationship between Dante and his brother Vergil. The game introduces new combat mechanics with an emphasis on combos and fast-paced action. The story is told primarily in cutscenes using the games engine, with several pre-rendered full motion videos.
Devil May Cry 3 was widely praised by critics, hailing it as a return to form for the series, yet did receive some criticisms for its high level of difficulty in the North American version. This was later addressed in the rebalanced special edition of the game. It was re‐released in 2006 as Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition[b] featuring retooled difficulty levels, the addition of mid-mission checkpoints, GOLD mode, and Vergil as a playable character. Combined sales of both versions were over 2.3 million. It has been cited as one of the greatest video games of all time.
A 2005 manga prequel to Devil May Cry 3s storyline was published in Japan and later the United States.
