American Enterprise Institute | The Virtues of Youth Sports: A Conversation with Frederick M. Hess and Timothy Shriver @AEI | Uploaded 2 weeks ago | Updated 11 hours ago
The past few years have been a time of grave concern about the social, mental, and academic well-being of American youth. While much of the response has emphasized therapeutic approaches or the need to curtail digital overload, far less attention has been devoted to the benefits of youth sports. After all, this summer’s Olympics were a stark reminder that, while professional athletes tend to dominate public consciousness, sports provide a sense of meaning, community, and purpose for millions of amateur athletes globally.
Join AEI’s Frederick M. Hess and Timothy Shriver of the Special Olympics International Board of Directors as they discuss the virtues of youth sports and how schools and communities can better expand participation and foster crucial skills such as resilience, teamwork, self-discipline, and leadership in youth.
