in which alexandra sings a song while sloppily drawing some birds, and then goes all teary-eyed and gross at the end
so! this song is beautiful, and although i recommended it and sang some in my music of 2017 video, i had to do a cover as well. it was meant to be really straightforward, just one take of playing the song only on the ukulele, but then i made it complicated like a FOOL
a fun fact: the outlines of the birds are all drawn using the colours from the bi pride flag, but then are filled in using the colours from the trans pride flag--it's ~symbolism~ cause i connect to the song as a bi woman, but the heart of it is about trans peeps and that's the important thing, so, solidarity!
another fun fact: i'm using my new ukulele here! it's got steel strings and is welded together out of metal and a literal tin can. it's fuckin GREAT
a third fun fact: i'm playing in the wrong key on the keyboard--because i played the song with a capo on the uke, i was too stupid to figure out how to transpose the piano chords while i was actually playing them, so i just played the chords in the original key and then pitch shifted the piano recording up three semitones. i felt like a music hacker, but really it was just me being too stupid to figure out how to ~music~ properly.
