The walking simulator has become a dubious honor in the current climate of video games, but I don't believe this oft-maligned subgenre of games is a lost cause. I take a look at a recent success for walking simulators in The Vanishing of Ethan Carter to see why it works and see what other walking simulators can learn from it.
