Lenin talks about the case of Pitirim Sorokin, a moderate socialist. Pitirim Sorokin was a person who had for long opposed the Bolsheviks from a right-wing position but now chose to collaborate with them.
Lenin wrote that this represented the split of the petit-bourgeois middle-class moderates into two groups:
1) Anti-bolshevik hardliners willing to collaborate with capitalists & monarchists.
2) Pro-bolshevik moderates willing to co-operate with the Soviet government against capitalism.
