This is the coolest Cartier Santos... and you might have already spotted its unique feature. Cartier's Santos was the first-ever pilot's wristwatch, created in 1904 at the request of Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont—and the watch is now an icon, with signature features like a rounded square case and curving lugs, exposed screws on the bezel and the blue sapphire crown. And this model, part of the slightly dressier Santos-Dumont line and released in 2023, comes in a 31 x 43.5mm steel case and with a special skeletonised dial and movement exposing the inner workings of the Calibre 9629 MC. And then there’s the star of the show: a micro-rotor, shaped like a miniature version of Santos-Dumont’s iconic Demoiselle aircraft, which appears to fly over the globe as it powers the watch. This is a discontinued watch, and it costs around £20,000 pre-owned.
