In 1959, Green Lantern changed forever with the introduction of Hal Jordan in Showcase #22. But Hal wasn't the only franchise staple to debut in that issue. Carol Ferris has been a part of the Green Lantern mythos since the very beginning of DC's Silver Age, and her importance would grow with the introduction of her superpowered alter ego, the Star Sapphire. And despite decades of stories and character development, including the Star Sapphires becoming an entire Corps to rival the Green Lanterns, Carol remains an occasional supporting character, never able to step outside of Green Lantern's shadow. So I thought it would be a nice creative exercise to show how fun and interesting a Star Sapphire ongoing series could really be, if only someone at DC would show these characters a little love.
