Bob Reuter was a musician, photographer, writer, and radio DJ who spent decades creating art outside the mainstream. This documentary explores the fine line between genius and obscurity through the story of an artist who finally seemed to be getting his shot, only for a broken elevator to take everything away.
Best known for his music, photography, and long-running KDHX radio show, Reuter spent over 40 years documenting the people and places nobody else wanted to see. His work influenced generations of musicians and artists, and helped shape the Alt-Country movement even as he remained largely unknown outside underground creative circles.
This film is a study of the “almost famous”—and why some of the most influential voices in music and art are often the ones the world never hears until they’re gone.
