David's new book, 'The Care Dilemma: Caring Enough in the Age of Sex Equality,' is the final instalment of a trilogy of books on class, economics, and the family that began with 'The Road to Somewhere' and 'Head Hand Heart.'
We spoke about the social and economic consequences of the mass entry of women into the labour market, why the government seems to regard unpaid care work as low status, and whether or not fathers are doing their share at home.
