Join Tim’s adventure with a $10 Dell Optiplex GX620, an unfinished project but a good story to tell nonetheless.
On a trip to Canberra in 2024 to obtain his visa for Sweden, I stumble upon a $10 Dell Optiplex GX620 on Facebook Marketplace. A friend who offered to hold the camera and I drive the Civic over to pick it up.
We change out the CPU for a Pentium D, and attempt to revive this vintage machine.
However, the project halts due to booting issues and my need to care for my nan and prepare for the move to Sweden.
In this video, I share the story of this adventure and the challenges faced.
It’s a reminder that it’s better to get something out there unfinished than for it to forever gather dust in hopes of perfection. Does something need to have a point to still be said?
This is the tale of a project that didn't reach its endpoint but I think still holds value and meaning.
