Thanks for nothing, Kansas! 2 years of busting our entire lower bodies, 2 years of blood, sweat, and tears, working through COVID-19. So much for “essential heroes”, we truly were the sacrificial lambs in the fight against COVID. I was booted from my retail job 4 months ago today, in an area where I’m already lucky to have such a low level job, and now I have no means of being able to pay my bills, even though WITH a job, being paid nearly $15/hr, I already had to make late payments. Even if I do get something figured out, it’s going to take me forever to get caught up. Again, carrying the economy on our backs for 2 years during a pandemic, with no vacation, but the minute we get fired, the State of Kansas can’t be bothered to help the working class in OUR time of need. I’m a sitting duck, all I can do is watch the days pass, hoping that at some point, I’ll eventually hear back from the DoL, or an interesting job opportunity arises. This officially takes the cake for the worst payout I’ve ever been dealt.
But, PERHAPS, there is one last glimmer of hope, in sweepstakes and play-to-win’s. Wish me luck.
