Why are UK house prices so high – and why does getting onto the property ladder feel harder than ever?
In this video, I break down what I believe is really happening with the UK housing market, why Britain’s housing shortage continues to push pressure onto house prices and rents, and why simply blaming landlords and property investors misses the bigger problem.
Housing ultimately comes down to supply and demand. We need homes, but the UK is not building enough of them. At the same time, property developers face planning delays, taxation and a system that can make creating new housing unnecessarily difficult.
I’ve experienced this first-hand.
I’ve bought run-down properties, restored buildings and created homes – yet property developers and landlords are increasingly portrayed as part of the problem rather than people who can help increase the UK housing supply.
I also share my experience of investing millions into a historic property, battling the planning system and eventually selling at a significant loss, as well as my debate with a university student who challenged me over owning hundreds of properties and profiting as a landlord.
