n today’s video, I’m taking a piece of "ugly" tree root—gnarly, spindly, and full of dirt—and turning it into a delicate Christmas bell for the tree. I honestly can't remember exactly what species this root came from.

To bridge the gaps and give it strength, I cast the root in resin, which allowed all those natural textures to stay visible. After some careful work on the lathe, I sanded it down, added a clear coat of resin and polished it to a high-gloss finish to really make it shine under the Christmas lights.

It’s amazing what’s hiding just beneath the surface of the things we usually toss away.
