Welcome to "The Ugly Phase"! This isn't the finished masterpiece yet—it's the crucial, messy first step in a brand new, highly personal art piece I'm creating for the walls of our new home.

In this video, I'm tackling the very beginning of the project: establishing the base layer using the beautiful, subtle colors of our local environment. Watch as I mix, layer, and experiment with paints to capture the desert hues and natural tones that will ground this entire work. Right now, it looks like a beautiful mess, but this foundation is key for the complex, layered collage that is coming next.

This is a progress check, showing my process from the very start. If you're interested in art process videos, home décor art, or how to translate natural inspiration into an abstract piece, you're in the right place!

Hit subscribe and turn on notifications so you don't miss the upcoming videos where I move on to adding the actual collage elements and building up the final texture!

What's your favorite stage of the creative process? Let me know in the comments below!
