Let me show you the ugliest part of my garden right now!
A note on the weeds present: Solanum nigrum is the main weed in this part of the garden and this video. It's VERY common in N. American gardens but so is its cousin, Solanum americanum (sometimes classified as Solanum nigrum subsp americanum). The berries of both are technically edible when FULLY RIPE. However, please do your own due diligence and do not eat random berries out of your garden. And as with any wild food, it's good to make sure an expert helps support you with ID, maturity, and preparation.
Deadly nightshade is Atropa belladonna.
Bittersweet nightshade is Solanum Dulcamara
Black nightshades include S. nigrum an S. americanum.
Disturbance: Nature abhors a vacuum. In permaculture, we say Observe and Interact, and Design from Patterns to Details. Here we observe how Nature wants to fill in bare soil with those hardy pioneer "weeds" like Common Mallow and Motherwort and Dock. What does those teach us about how to design in the garden? Paticularly in this space in the garden? What do the weeds teach us about the soil quality, sun, water, etc? If we know the growing habits and preferences of these weeds we can better understand our site and plan accordingly. Notice the patterns that Nature creates and design with them in mind.
