This documentary tells the inspiring story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the all-Black fighter unit authorized by the War Department in 1941, 11 months before Pearl Harbor. Despite rampant segregation and racism at home, these African-American aviators, trained at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, were determined to prove their worth. They deployed to Italy and flew P-51 Red Tail fighters, excelling as bomber escorts for the 15th Air Force.
