The Instagram account VHS Dates advertises itself as resurfacing lost dating service videotapes from the 1980s. Our reporter Sopan Deb scheduled an interview with the two filmmakers who said they had been digitizing the footage. Their publicist explicitly told him these were “real” dating tapes. Then @vhsdates' creators came clean.
