What exactly IS FF7 Remake? It's not a remaster, remake, reboot or reimagining. It's something else. Remakequel? Sneakquel? Multiverse spinoff that involves time travel? The fans can't agree, and Square Enix won't be clear - so no one knows
Final Fantasy 7 (1997) by Squaresoft is the real FF7. Everything after by SE is basically non-canon fan fiction, designed to milk the fanbase like Star Wars. FF7R however seeks to combine the original game with all the poorly written comp media that came after it, to create a Frankenstein's abomination of a game. Now OG FF7 is fused with Crisis Core, Advent Children, The Kids Are Alright, Ever Crisis - and more. Starring Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, Zack, Barret, Yuffie, Cid Highwind, Red XIII and Vincent Valentine.
