hello!! beyond excited to show off a little peak at what i've been working on the past year and a half in collaboration with @HoopsandHipHop . . . welcome to the world (and soundtrack) of histrobea chronicles!! :3

it's a huge relief to finally be able to say this clearly, but: i'm the main arranger and a composer for hoops' upcoming game project!! think pokemon meets kingdom hearts (as I've had it pitched to me), 2D sprite open-world RPG vibes, wild west steampunk-y setting. this 3 track EP is just a small teaser of what we've been working on, and i hope you'll loook forward to hearing the rest someday!!! my personal goal for the OST is to make as many tracks as i can as catchy as possible, and enjoyable in their own right. i'm largely happy with the result so far and can't wait to share the whole thing ~

my exact duties often include arranging hoop's original concept demos and translating or (sometimes dramatically) reinterpreting them into a more convincing retro vgm type style. i compose some tracks completely from scratch based on direction as well. it's the first time i've worked so closely with someone else on their vision for so long of a stretch and on such a scale. i've learned and continue to learn a lot through the whole process! it's been a worthwhile experience overall and i'm goinna keep gooooooing to completion! thanks for the patience and support in the meantime :D

~ some commentary on this specific tune ~

this will be heard as overworld 'route' type music.
many of the 'route' tracks in this game more or less share a similar main melody/structure, making it an 'adventure' motif of sorts. hoops wrote the inital melody and this permutation of it was not my first arrangement of this idea (it's the third). the request was for an adventurous, early game route with happy, almost victorious "let's keep going!" vibes :3
i'm really proud of the arrangement overall and think it has a lot of fun ideas in there . . . the main idea was 'snare triplet rhythms, and see where that takes me'. i tried going for a traditional snes RPG sort of feel, final fantasy esque, with a sense of importance in your step as the player. the second half of the song that has a slightly more serious edge is my favourite part, i think it was a cute way to squeeze a longer runtime out of a relatively short idea heheheh. ultimately it was very satisfying to arrange. there's one thing about it that bothers me, but i wasn't permitted to change it. hopefully it's not an issue! (no hints)

something i'll say about this project is that it's been nice to stretch my 'area theme' muscles, im mostly attuned to battle music, but i would say the majority of tracks so far are places or scenes. it's great practice!! great practice for a bunch of things honestly haha
