Do you ever just focus on a single tree?
A tree right in front of you
Easy to see
Do you ever just focus on a tree and ignore the forest
And everything surrounding
You see, the tree coule be many things
It could be your family, a friend, or an idealology
The tree could be a bias or a polictical opinion
The tree could be something only you believe in
We hone in and begin to forget that there is a forest
In fact, we think the forest is just a bunch of other wrong trees
So we focus on the one in front of us that is comfortable and easy
We focus on ourselves and our ideas
And we begin to not care how our actions and words effect anyone
If the forrest is filled but we only see our tree then nothing else matters except me. right?
If my tree is my family then ill do whatever it takes for my tree succeed, regardless of how it effects Yours...you see
If my tree is my belief system then i wont even listen to anything that you say
And hey, if your tree looks different than mine
Then I may even be rude and cruel and unkind
Because all I want to see is my tree, not the forrest
Even if it causes an emotional war among us
When we only see the one tree we don't seem to care about unity
We. don't. seem. to. care. about. unity.
How can we be one body and not united?
How can we move forward and keep fighting?
How can we further the kingdom not unified?
How long do we go before we are so tired inside that we break down at the seams and The King becomes misrepresented by you and me?
You know, the hinging point of my faith is based on one tree.
The tree that Jesus hung on for you and me
And I think many of us get so focused on that event and his tree
That we don't see the big picture and the crosses for you and me
See
We are all supposed to be carrying trees
We are all supposed to be dying daily
But instead we spend time staring down a spot and forgetting about the forrest
And now, our limited viewpoint is killing us
So what do we do?
We take a few steps back and we try and see the big picture
We stop making little differences the kicker
That ruins relationships. that ruins our witness.
We have to be better. we have to practice.
Love
We love each other because Jesus told us to
And if we focus only on one tree in a sea full of people who need the King
Then we may be missing the whole thing
