"Blessing in De Skies" is an original song. My friends and I wrote and played it years ago in our ska band, The Traumatics, back when 2-Tone and third-wave were everything to us. This is a rocksteady reimagining of that tune, built out from a rough VHS recording that was the only copy I still had.
I slowed it into a rocksteady groove, leaned into the brass, and let it breathe. Then I built the video around it: a 2-Tone rude boy skanking through a checkerboard world. The dancing isn't invented. I filmed myself doing every move and used that footage to drive the character, so what you're watching is my own skank translated onto the rude boy. Enjoy!
