This is the history of Holme Moss, a BBC transmitting station in West Yorkshire that was built with bedrooms and a months supply of food for when the snow and ice came.

With its fortified walls, thick windows and canteen, it was made to keep BBC engineers safe at this remote moorland location.

It now carries high powered BBC radio signals at 250 kilowatts but once carried 405 line television and was the BBC's first VHF FM radio transmitter.

It really is a marvel of disaster resilience.
