Why is the translation operator important?

📚 In this video we learn about the properties of the translation operator in quantum mechanics. The translation operator translates position eigenstates in space. It allows us to prove many important properties of wave functions, such as why a wave function is related to a momentum space wave function by a Fourier transform.
