The final evening of my Mayo photography adventure with Bernard and Milo delivered everything you want from a landscape photography trip, but also a few challenges we definitely did not expect.
After exploring some incredible sections of the Mayo coastline, we headed back out for one final cliff shoot. The views were impressive, the light was changing, and I found some great compositions using the natural foreground features around me.
However, the evening quickly became more complicated.
A drone flight towards the sea stacks turned into a tense few minutes when the signal dropped, the live view disappeared, and I lost communication with the aircraft. At the same time, Milo was dealing with his own drone issue, leaving us both wondering what was going to happen next.
Thankfully, the drone returned safely, but the challenges continued as thousands of midges arrived just as the wind disappeared.
Despite everything, patience paid off. A brief gap in the clouds created some incredible light across the cliffs, giving us one final opportunity to capture some memorable images before the weather closed in.
This was the perfect way to finish an amazing few days exploring County Mayo, a place that continues to surprise me with every visit.
