On the evening of Friday, February 28, 2014 Emily Lambert arrived in Carlsbad New Mexico from Garland Texas. She was there to visit her boyfriend Robert Earley, who had recently started an oil field job and was staying at a local motel, the Stevens Inn, with the rest of his crew. The couple had been dating since November and they were excited to spend the weekend together. The next morning they woke up, had breakfast, and went to Carlsbad Caverns and Roswell.
