When looking at the physical games market for the current generation of consoles, the amount of shovelware is actually pretty low. Of course, some oddities find their way onto the shelves, but for the most part, things are pretty good in that respect. Unfortunately a brand new kind of shovelware is infesting these platforms, specifically their digital store fronts. One quick scroll through the Switch eShop or PlayStation Store will reveal hundreds, if not thousands, of these low effort games. You can spot them almost immediately, primarily from their basic titles and AI generated images. Today I want to talk about the dangers of these kinds of games being allowed, and what possible solutions there can be to fix it.
