In today’s video, I’m racing for Okehampton Otters in Round 1 of the National Arena League — my favourite meet of the year! 🏊♂️ But this isn’t just about the race… I’m testing out the Mizuno GX Sonic V MR, the same suit Jordan Crooks wore when he made history as the first man to go sub-20 with a 19.90 in the 50 freestyle.
Before hitting the blocks, I break down the full history of the short course 50 free world record, from César Cielo’s 20.51 to Crooks’ lightning-fast swim, and then dive deep into what makes this Mizuno model so special — compression, material tech, and why it still stacks up years later.
Finally, I test it myself leading off the squadron relay and see if I can channel that world-record speed 💥
