Clarification: I know that Majima had his tattoo before 2, I meant that it's not SHOWN before 2. In 2005 they didn't have one made for him, but by 2006 they did.

With the help of the Yakuza 10 year anniversary encyclopedia book, let's take a look at the various tattoo designs of the Yakuza series.
These were all designed by real-life tattoo artist Horitomo, now active in San Jose California. Keep in mind that I translated from the book from my limited skills and also many of the designs hail from buddhism, and the details of that I looked up mostly on wikipedia so I could have gotten things wrong.
