This one skill, slowing down, prepares me in making better choices and enjoying the process of making a fabulous blouse without the stress.
I decided I wanted to take part in the #sewphoenixseptember25 sewing challenge hosted by Sam, Rachel and Katherine (their YT channels are listed below).
The challenge was to make something you'd made before and to remake it with newly learnt skills.
My 'second chance' make is the Simplicity blouse S9467. I originally made this back in May 2023 and though I considered myself an experienced sewist, I was in a rush to churn out another garment. So making this blouse a second time, I took my time; read the instructions, placed the pattern pieces on the fabric to get a better look and showcase the fabric. Also my newly learnt skill this year is pattern matching, so I pattern matched the fabric and I love it. The fabric flows so much better than the green one as I have two large white flowers on both front bodice pieces which drawn the eye.
I still wear my green blouse, even though one of the cuff's buttonholes have been sewn on the wrong side! No one notices but me. I love wearing it and was keen to try and make another one, but this challenge gave me the opportunity to look back and give it a second chance.
