In the words of the poet William Wordsworth, “The world is too much with us.” Particularly the modern world. Too chaotic, too out of control, like a wave of assault approaching us all the time.
The kids. The marriage. The love affair. The career. The finances. The living situation. The boss. The employees. The clients. The politics. The world. The diseases. The dangers. It’s not a surprise that so many lives are faltering under the weight of it all.
But…! There’s another way of looking at this. In the words of A COURSE IN MIRACLES, healing begins “when we consider the possibility that there might be another way.”
The universe is self-organizing and self-correcting, when we allow it to be. Our only real problem is we forget Who runs things. We forget that what is surrendered to God is automatically placed within a field of divine harmony. The best way you can help the process is to relax.
Of course that feels counterintuitive, because it is. But when you place all things, and I mean every detail - name it, be specific, give Him the list! - into the hands of God, then forces greater than anything you could possibly control are activated. Miracles occur. Your personality relaxes. Your relationships improve. Circumstances fall into place. What was chaotic becomes calm, what was painful becomes peaceful, and what was broken is repaired.
Such is the awesomeness of God.
