If sound waves could travel through space,
imagine the look you'd have on your face,
listening to jackhammers 24/7.
The Sun makes a big noise all the way from heaven.
The vacuum of space protects us from the racket
of the Sun producing sound waves. How long could you hack it,
if you had to listen to chainsaws all day long?
Of course, maybe evolution would help us along.
Maybe we'd have evolved to block this sound out.
What else can't we perceive? There is no doubt
there is much we can't perceive, even with our senses peeled,
such as ultraviolet light, and the Earth's magnetic field.
Many humans claim to be far superior
to other kinds of animals. But we are inferior,
when it comes to perceiving what other beings can.
Their heightened senses help them give environments a scan.
Bees can see ultraviolet light to help them find nectar.
Birds can see Earth's magnetic field as they fly over a hectare.
Humans have a sense of smell, but it's weak compared to dogs.
Lateral line receptors are present on the heads and bodies of frogs.
And of course, there are many things that humans can perceive,
that fail to give us pause, 'cause we've been conditioned to believe
that these things are necessary, and unquestionable,
even though these systems keep our world from being equitable.
We can see and feel money, and we recognize that it's real.
But its value is a social construct, that is losing its appeal.
Capitalism ain't sustainable. If it continues, we'll all die.
Nature is real wealth. Money is just a lie.
We do not see the world as it really is.
We see it as we are. I know I'd fail a quiz
if a being smarter than I asked me questions about the wheels
that make the universe go round and provide us with meals.
Aliens would be smart enough to go undetected,
if they decided to visit Earth and learn how we are all connected.
Maybe aliens are looking at us right now. We are not alone.
I hope to one day meet aliens, and see how their fabrics are sewn.
The Sun is loud like jackhammers, 'cause it is working hard
to keep us all alive, so we can explore our yard.
Many have worshipped the Sun, and many still do,
while other human beings have a different point of view.
They'd rather worship a fictional man who sits above the clouds.
Sometimes, the easiest thing to do is to simply follow the crowds.
I've no interest in worshipping anyone, especially someone not real.
But worship him, many still do, even while they eat some "veal."
Why are some so big on the bible, and preach "thou shalt not kill,"
but when they're feeling hungry, many animals' blood they spill?
Other kinds of animals have feelings too, and like us they feel pain.
We feel empathy for a reason. Let's never harm again.
