Wow, I’m really doing it! Submitting my dream project into a contest… but not just any contest, the @artlist.io 100k fund, which helps creators bring their biggest and wildest ideas to life.
For me, this documentary isn’t just a project, it’s a deeply personal journey into the heart of discipleship, faith, and legacy. I’ll be exploring how mentorship has shaped my life through generations, starting with my grandmother, a descendant of slaves who was from the Jim Crow South. And it won’t just start and finish there. I’ll also be tracing the origins of African Christianity and its impact on the Black diaspora, connecting the dots between our heritage and our faith as African American people. This story is so important to me because it shows the power of relationships and how they transform us in ways we carry forward for generations. Many of us were discipled by our grandparents before we even knew what it meant to accept Jesus as our own.
