This dressing gown offers a rare glimpse into Freddie Mercury’s life away from the spotlight.

Worn backstage during Queen’s *The Game Tour* and likely on later tours and video shoots, it reflects a side of Freddie that fans didn’t always see. While he was known for his electrifying stage presence, he was just as recognisable for these quieter, in-between moments, often seen in dressing gowns before and after performances.

But the real story behind this piece comes later.

In 1986, after Peter Hince had left touring and was working as a professional photographer, Freddie visited his studio for a shoot. Looking around, he asked if Hince had a dressing gown available for his models. When Hince said no, Freddie simply gave him the one he had brought with him.

It is a small, spontaneous gesture, but one that says a lot about Freddie’s character. Generous, practical, and always thinking in the moment.

Made from cotton towelling and showing signs of real use, this is not just a costume or stage piece. It is something Freddie lived in behind the scenes, during a time when Queen were at the height of their global success.
