The new Steam Machine might be a great product for console players, but for PC enthusiasts it is probably not the best way to spend $1,000.
If you know how to build a PC, you can make something faster, cheaper, more upgradeable, and better suited to your needs.
In this video I explain why the Steam Machine makes sense for some people, but also why a custom gaming PC with parts like a Ryzen 5 5500X3D, Core Ultra 5 225F, RTX 5060, used RTX 3070, RX 6700 XT, or even a used gaming PC can be a much better value.
You can still get the console-like experience with Steam Big Picture, Linux, SteamOS-style setups, or just a properly configured Windows gaming PC :)
