My close friend and creative director Sam made this visual piece when we were touring Asia in 2023. It was right around when I had a crisis of identity and stepped back from what felt like the peak of my momentum. I didn’t have the courage to share such a magnificent piece that examined who I was. Sam was so patient and understanding of the place I was in. I spent a long winter in Paris and removed myself from everyone I loved. I came back and recorded my most intentional work to date. My return to the stage next week has brought this visual piece back into the ether. Rewatching it, I recognize its timelessness, and finally have a strong enough sense of self to share it. Thank you to Sam and the blue wave crew, to everyone who came to this tour, to all who stuck with me through my absence, and to everyone diving in to the new chapter with me. I don’t have the words to fully express how special these shows and this music will truly feel. New York, see you in a week.
