The frequency of the gravitational wave detected by LIGO on 14 September 2015 is similar to the frequency of sound waves heard by the human ear. Convert the gravitational wave to an audio file and you can hear it ‘chirp’. Monash astrophysicist and LIGO Scientific Collaborator Dr Eric Thrane demonstrates.
