Radio stations banned a song for being “too explicit”… and it still hit #1 in the UK.

In 1969, Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin released “Je t’aime… moi non plus.” Broadcasters in multiple countries — including the BBC — refused to play it because of its sexual content.

In the UK it climbed the charts, got withdrawn from sale, then returned and reached #1, becoming the first foreign-language song to top the UK chart.
