Part 4 of my Audition Series is Out! I present:
The Song of Black Max by William Bolcom!
This piece is part of William Bolcom's Cabaret Songs and if you think THIS is a wild song, listen to more of that collection because there are multiple gems in those volumes.
I love the composers who fuse several genres together. If one looks at the sheet music for this piece it is very clear that Bolcom is a classical composer. His notation is descriptive and precise, he demands the singer to be an active participant in the music making.
My question to you: WHAT or WHO do you think Black Max represents?
