When I walked into my Saturday morning drum lesson 16 years ago, I knew I hadn’t made any progress on the bass drum exercise my teacher had given me.
When it came time to play, I felt so much pressure and anxiousness as my teacher watched me, and I struggled to play anything well that day.
My clumsy, sloppy right foot had gotten the better of me, and I naturally began to blame the pedal.
