2 Nephi 1:8-9 says that the Americas were kept a secret from the rest of the world by God so that Lehi could move there.
However, the Americas have been populated for thousands of years by the Maya, Aztec, Inca, etc.
Mormons either pretend that Mayan, Inca, or Aztec civilizations were Nephites or that they really didn't have metal swords, armor, stone buildings, etc. due to the lack of archaeological traces of their civilization. There is no evidence for the Book of Mormon people in the USA.
We find artifacts, temples, pottery, etc from the Maya, Aztec, & Inca just fine. None of it has anything to do with the Book of Mormon, Nephites, or Lamanites. Even the LDS Church admits there are no artifacts related to the Book of Mormon story but apologists will grasp at straws.
