This is Alice's story for Sheastel contest/group/whatever-it-is-thing ^^
Basically, Alice is able to project terrible visions in the mind, blinding a person to reality. In weak subjects, this visions can kill, like happened to Odette; Alice's sister.
Alice is not evil, though she notices that her ability could be used for personal interest.
One day she meets Facilier, a federal agent who has to recruit people with "gifts" for the government .
He thinks that Alice's skills may be useful so brings the girl with him. Facilier can control shadows (a power called *umbrakinesis*)
