Thanks to the guys who are behind the amazing Project Donut and the useful Notepad++, I've been able to mod The Simpsons Hit and Run's mission scripts, and have been able to modify existing missions.
As a way to try out as to what I can do, I decided to try to mod Bonestorm Storm to make it harder. Probably not Project Donut hard, but I'm pretty satisfied as to how it turned out.
Differences:
- The amount of Bonestorm boxes has increased. As opposed to the usual 10, there are now a total of 15.
- The timer has been decreased heavily. The player is now only given sixty-one (61) seconds to clear the level. It should normally be only 60, but the game adds an extra second to certain timers for some reason, and I'm too lazy to change it. I think the game crashes as well if it's put to low, but that may be because I have messed with something else that caused me to restart.
- I tried increasing the speed of the truck a bit by modifying the "GasScale". I don't know if it did anything, but there may be a small speed increase.
To do:
- I want to add a "chase" scene that occurs as soon as you get back to the Simpsons house. I need to figure out as to how adding one works. I had some varying success when I was modding "Nerd Race Queen", but I only saw the chase bar for a second.
- Add a second vehicle that you have to destroy? May make the mission a bit more interesting.
