You're still in Rome here, but it feels nothing like it.

The Appian Way is the original ancient road, lined with tombs and ruins still standing after two thousand years. On Sundays it closes to cars and fills with Romans out for the day. Spring and summer is when it's at its best, shaded by umbrella pines the whole way.
